David Beisel’s Web Innovators Group held a session last night and wow was it different from the wild-and-wooly bar session in November.
- At a guess, I would say two of the three presenters were over 40, and the third was over 30. I no longer feel like a dinosaur.
- All three presenters all had business models.
- Two of the three presenters had good presentations, while the third read his bullet points. Please, don’t read the bullets off a 9 bullet slide. It hurts the children.
- Two of the three presenters were mobile, while the third was web-based. (Perhaps reflecting Beisel’s interests)
- The model I liked the best was the one with the least-cool underlying technology: repurposing IVR to create a semi-remote-control experience. Very cool, relatively easy to implement and probably bootstrap. Eventually will face direct competition.
- The room itself was quieter, and so better for conversation and meeting interesting people.
- Feeling like the group is growing up a little - focusing more on solving problems than just doing cool things. All to the good.
